A high-contrast composition image can be formed because the emission efficiency of back-scattered electrons increases with increasing atomic number so that each element has a different back-scattered electron intensity.

However, S1O2 is generated in very small quantities in air around 400 °C and S1O2 in amorphous form may not give well defined diffraction peak but just very broad one. Therefore, it is unknown which equation is a main reaction type at a present stage. The increase in resistance is due to the formation of M0O3, which is principally an insulator. Figure 14 shows that the MoSi2 thin film is oriented in the direction of the ft-axis, since (110) and (021) diffractions were observed. Table II shows the composition analysis results for the cross-section of the MoSi2 thin film deposited on the SÍ3N4 substrate obtained using an EDS before and after the heating test.
